Instant Pot Steel Cut Oats

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 3 1/2 cups water (or substitute some with milk for a creamier texture)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional add-ins:
    • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings (optional):

  • Fresh berries, sliced bananas, chopped nuts, chia seeds, or a sprinkle of brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Oats:
    • Add the steel-cut oats, water, and salt to the Instant Pot. Stir in any optional add-ins like cinnamon or vanilla if desired.
  2. Pressure Cook:
    • Secure the Instant Pot lid and set the valve to “Sealing.”
    • Set to Manual or Pressure Cook on High for 4 minutes.
  3. Natural Release:
    • Once the cooking time is complete, let the Instant Pot naturally release pressure for 10-15 minutes. After that, release any remaining pressure manually by turning the valve to “Venting.”
  4. Stir and Serve:
    • Open the lid and give the oats a good stir to reach a creamy consistency. Adjust sweetness with maple syrup or honey if desired.
  5. Add Toppings:
    • Spoon the oats into bowls and add your favorite toppings, like berries, nuts, or a sprinkle of brown sugar.
