Baked Brie in Puff Pastry

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 1 wheel of Brie cheese (about 8 ounces)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a different twist)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts, pecans, or almonds, optional)
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Fresh fruit, crackers, or baguette slices (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Puff Pastry:
    • Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to smooth out creases and slightly expand it.
    • Place the Brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry.
  3. Add Honey and Nuts:
    • Drizzle the honey over the top of the Brie. If using nuts, sprinkle them over the honey.
    • For extra flavor, you can also add a few sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme on top of the Brie.
  4. Wrap the Brie:
    • Fold the edges of the puff pastry up and around the Brie, pleating as necessary to completely enclose it. You can trim any excess pastry if needed.
    • Pinch the seams together to seal.
  5. Apply Egg Wash:
    • Brush the surface of the puff pastry with the beaten egg to give it a golden, glossy finish.
  6. Bake:
    • Place the wrapped Brie on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a lightly greased baking dish.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve:
    • Let the Baked Brie cool for a few minutes before serving.
    • Garnish with additional fresh herbs if desired.
    • Serve warm with fresh fruit, crackers, or baguette slices.
