Easy Air Fryer Apple Pies

Ingredients:

– 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or any tart variety), peeled, cored, and diced
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
– 1 tablespoon lemon juice
– 1 tablespoon cornstarch
– 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
– 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
– Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Filling:
– In a bowl, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Mix well until the apples are evenly coated.

2. Preheat the Air Fryer:
– Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 5 minutes.

3. Prepare the Pie Crust:
– Unroll the refrigerated pie crusts on a lightly floured surface.
– Use a round cutter (about 4 inches in diameter) to cut out circles from the pie crusts. You should get about 8-10 circles depending on the size of your cutter.

4. Fill the Pies:
– Place a small spoonful of the apple filling in the center of each pie crust circle.
– Brush the edges of the circles with the beaten egg.
– Fold the circles in half to create a semi-circle, and press the edges with a fork to seal them.

5. Air Fry the Pies:
– Lightly brush the tops of the pies with the beaten egg.
– Place the pies in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
– Cook at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes, or until the pies are golden brown and crispy.

6. Cool and Serve:
– Remove the pies from the air fryer and let them cool slightly on a wire rack.
– Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
