Ingredients:
– 1 lb ground beef
– 1 small onion, finely chopped
– 1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
– 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
– 1/2 cup ketchup
– 1/4 cup water
– 1 tablespoon brown sugar
– 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
– 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– 6 hamburger buns

Instructions:

1. Cook the Beef:
– In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it’s browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.

2. Add Vegetables:
– Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.

3. Make the Sauce:
– Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.

4. Simmer:
– Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is thickened and the flavors have melded together.

5. Toast the Buns (Optional):
– If desired, lightly toast the hamburger buns in a skillet or under the broiler.

6. Assemble the Sloppy Joes:
– Spoon the meat mixture onto the bottom halves of the hamburger buns. Place the top halves of the buns on top.

7. Serve:
– Serve the sloppy joes hot, with your favorite sides like potato chips, pickles, or coleslaw.
