Ingredients:
– 8 ounces (225 grams) halloumi cheese
– 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
– Freshly ground black pepper
– Fresh lemon wedges (optional)
– Fresh herbs for garnish (optional, such as mint, parsley, or basil)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Halloumi:
– Remove the halloumi from its packaging and pat it dry with paper towels.
– Slice the halloumi into 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick slices.
2. Heat the Pan:
– Heat a non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
– Add 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil to the pan, enough to lightly coat the bottom.
3. Fry the Halloumi:
– Once the oil is hot, place the halloumi slices in the pan in a single layer, leaving space between each slice.
– Cook the halloumi for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Use tongs or a spatula to carefully flip the slices.
4. Season and Serve:
– Once the halloumi is golden and crispy, remove it from the pan and place it on a serving plate.
– Sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper to taste.
– Serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges for squeezing over the top and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
