Salt and Pepper Skillet Fries

Ingredients:

– 4 large russet potatoes
– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
– 1 teaspoon sea salt
– 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
– Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
– Ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce (for serving)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Potatoes:
– Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly.
– Cut the potatoes into thin wedges or sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.

2. Preheat the Skillet:
– Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
– Add the vegetable oil and let it heat up until shimmering.

3. Cook the Fries:
– Add the potato wedges to the skillet in a single layer. You may need to cook them in batches to avoid overcrowding the skillet.
– Cook the potatoes for about 5-7 minutes on each side, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy.

4. Season the Fries:
– Once the fries are cooked, transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
– While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them evenly with sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, and garlic powder (if using).

5. Serve:
– Transfer the seasoned fries to a serving platter.
– Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color and flavor.
– Serve immediately with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.
