Ingredients:
- 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 can sardines in olive oil, drained and flaked
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
- Olive oil, for drizzling
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
- Prepare the Dough:
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer the dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Add the Tomato Sauce:
- Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Add the Toppings:
- Distribute the flaked sardines evenly over the tomato sauce.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the sardines.
- Arrange the thinly sliced red onion and black olives on top of the cheese.
- Sprinkle the dried oregano and dried thyme evenly over the pizza.
- Bake the Pizza:
- Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the preheated pizza stone if using).
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Finish and Serve:
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes.
- Drizzle a little olive oil over the top and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Slice and Serve:
- Slice the pizza into wedges and serve hot.
