Ingredients:

  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 can sardines in olive oil, drained and flaked
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
  • Olive oil, for drizzling
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer the dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Add the Tomato Sauce:
    • Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Add the Toppings:
    • Distribute the flaked sardines evenly over the tomato sauce.
    • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the sardines.
    • Arrange the thinly sliced red onion and black olives on top of the cheese.
    • Sprinkle the dried oregano and dried thyme evenly over the pizza.
  5. Bake the Pizza:
    • Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the preheated pizza stone if using).
    • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Finish and Serve:
    • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes.
    • Drizzle a little olive oil over the top and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Slice and Serve:
    • Slice the pizza into wedges and serve hot.
